Susan's
Qualifications for Cook County Judge
Cook
County citizens deserve a compassionate and capable judge
under all circumstances. A judge must listen well, show
respect, walk humbly, take responsibility, know the law,
work hard, be objective and remain ethical.
Susan Kennedy Sullivan has demonstrated those qualities
throughout her career first as a Registered Nurse,
and now as an attorney practicing primarily in the area
of Elder Law and mental health. She is a people person,
and possesses the ability to listen really listen
to people and show that she cares what happens
to them.
She has been in private practice since 1994, with a
legal concentration in elder law, probate, guardianship,
and mental health. Recognizing her attention to the
rights of the vulnerable, she has been appointed Guardian
Ad Litem more than 300 times by various county courts.
Susan Kennedy Sullivan has
been rated Qualified, Recommended or Highly Recommended
by all Bar Associations, specifically, Chicago Bar Association,
Illinois State Bar Association, Women's Bar Association
of Illinois, Asian American Bar Association of the Greater
Chicago Area, Black Women Lawyers Association

an active volunteer with Chicago Volunteer Legal Services
since 1998; tutored underprivileged adolescents for
several years; served for 8 years on the board of DePaul
Universitys Institute for Business and Professional
Ethics; and has also served on the boards of directors
of Ballet Chicago, Woodlands Academy, the Three Arts
Club of Chicago, and the Sacred Heart National Committee
on Goals in Secondary Education.

Medical Center in Washington, DC and Bellevue Hospital
in New York. She taught nursing students at Georgetown
University and Loyola University, and served in the
administration of the UIC College of Nursing. She also
served as the editor and assistant editor of nursing
journals.

College of Law; an M.A. from New York Universitys

| "Every
class I teach at DePaul includes an ethics component.
Why? Because decisions that require ethical consideration
happen every day - within the law and beyond it.
I believe one cannot separate a person from her
ethics, especially someone invested with as much
responsibility as a judge. I believe my broad professional
and personal experience has given me a strong base
for ethical decision-making." |
Our Vote
We say all this to make a simple case: that her diverse
background, well beyond the scope of the usual legal
